AN INTERVIEW SESSION WITH JOSHUA FALEMU

 Falemu Joshua

Joshua Falemu: Well, I'm Joshua Falemu, popularly known as Jawsh. A 300 level, medical student of OAU as well as a budding financial analyst.

Philips: How would you describe yourself to people?

Joshua Falemu: I'd say Jawsh is a cool, calm, collected, reserved and confident entity. He goes about life pursuing knowledge and money. He also puts this knowledge into practical use based on facts with as little bias as possible

Philips: You forgot to tell us if you are single and searching

Joshua Falemu: I'm single but not searching at the moment. Still busy figuring myself out

Philips: Pls tell us about your academic journey so far

Joshua Falemu: It's been rough o, no jokes

I attended the prestigious Christ Foundation International nursery and primary school, Ikere Ekiti, where I was appointed as the senior perfect boy in my final year. Well, I graduated there, I happened to have went to several other mushroom schools which I don't remember their names at the moment.

Upon graduation, I started my secondary school education in College of Education, Demonstration Secondary School, Ikere Ekiti, where I spent 2 of my junior school years and then proceeded to Fountain international High School, Ado Ekiti to complete my junior secondary school

All 3 years of my Senior Secondary School were in Ekiti Anglican Diocesean High School, Ado Ekiti where I was the Officer in Charge of Food in my final year. Must have something to do with my love for food. Upon graduation, I sought admission for medicine and surgery to University of Ilorin, Kwara State where unfortunately I was flung to the department of Zoology instead. You know how it is with Nigerian Universities. I spent 2 sessions and a semester there before I finally got admitted for medicine and surgery in the prestigious OAU, Ile Ife in 2017 where I've been subjected to almost an entire year of Asuu strike.

Philips: Tell us about your time with Love kin

Joshua Falemu: My journey with love kin has been amazing. From the very moment I heard Mr. Dipo uttering blasphemy to my ears in the very first meeting, to the constant intellectual discuss with other members. I'd say I've enjoyed every bit of it. However, my greatest gain from this journey so far is the unhinged ability to think for myself without the bias of religion hanging over my head

Ade Dipo: What has life outside academics been like for you?

Joshua Falemu: Honestly, it's been just as stressful and time consuming as life in academics since all it entails are a few social outings and more of books and more books.

I try to have fun when I can, I can die for animes. But the journey to garner knowledge trumps everything else.

Ade Dipo: What are your dreams and plans for the future?

Joshua Falemu: I don't have dreams, I have goals. And top of that list of goals is to get out of this country. I intend to be a practicing surgeon in a country that's not Nigeria. I intend to have a family of my own as well as to help as many people as I possibly can just to keep the list short

Ade Dipo: What are the things that keep you motivated in life?

Joshua Falemu: Survival. I see everything I do and need to do as a necessity for survival. If it's important for survival, it needs to be done. Everything else is second fiddle

Ade Dipo: Do you have any message or advice for fellows of Love kin

Joshua Falemu: I urge us all to relentlessly continue in our quest for knowledge as well as actively share our views with less and uninformed people we have access to. Remember to chop life too, problem no dey finish.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH OTERI BRIGHT OKOREFE BY THE INTERVIEW UNIT

INTERV. UNIT: Please, can we meet you?

BRIGHT: I am Oteri Bright Okorefe.

INTERV. UNIT: We would like to know more about you.

BRIGHT: Well, I’m currently single. I’m an Urhobo man from Delta State. I attend Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State where I’m currently studying Sociology.

INTERV. UNIT: How has academic life been for you?

BRIGHT: Well, it has been a struggle. It’s like a boy trying to survive on the streets, but I am grateful to some real friends out there for their support.

Honestly, academics is like the street in OAU. When I say street, I mean you can read and read and still get an F in an exam. It’s the same on the streets. You will hustle and get disappointed at the end, but you don’t have to give up.

INTERV. UNIT: Can you briefly tell us about your moments in Love Kin?

BRIGHT (sighs): About Love Kin, I don’t really have to say much, but the truth is that I really enjoy Love Kin. The love they share, their belief, support, and especially their vision and passion, are what make the place a home.

INTERV. UNIT: What are your dreams and plans for the future?

BRIGHT: I have a lot of things on my mind for my future. It’s one thing to have big dreams, and it’s another thing to make plans to make sure you achieve these dreams.

My dream is to become wealthy, not rich, if you know what I mean. I want to get married to just one wife and have just two kids, but dad and mum said two is too small (laughs). So, I said I will do my work to add one. To be able to achieve these dreams, I have some plans on ground ready to activate them and I’m still making some plans and thinking of how to go about them too. With this and the right people by my side, and putting God first, I will definitely achieve my dreams.

INTERV. UNIT: How has life been for you outside school and what has kept you going?

BRIGHT: As I keep growing and observing my environment, I get wise day by day. Like getting to know what to do, how to go about things; being conscious, ready to face anything. The greatest lesson life has taught me is to never depend solely on anyone, not even your mum or dad. No one is perfect, but what has kept me going is self-motivation; my determination to be successful and achieve my dreams in life no matter what.

INTERV. UNIT: Do you have any message or advice for fellows of Love Kin?

BRIGHT: Stand for what you believe in, no matter what. Be open to correction and changes too. And don’t forget to HUSTLE TO MAKE MONEY. It’s very important, abeg.

INTERV. UNIT: That was a very unique interview. Thanks for sharing with us. We are glad you accepted our request to interview you.

PHILIP IN CORRESPONDENCE WITH IFEOLUWA MIBIOLA

PHILIP: Can we meet you, ma?

MIBIOLA: I'm Ifeoluwa Mibiola. I'm currently working with Kashbase, a fin-tech company where I create beautiful experiences for users through various digital tools.

PHILIP: Can you tell us more about yourself? Are you married? Are you a graduate?

MIBIOLA: I'm a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University. I love writing and content creation which is related to my present job. I'm a big fan of tech, books, cartoons, music, cakes and traveling. I'm single, not married.

PHILIP: Can you tell us about your time in Obafemi Awolowo University? What was the experience like?

MIBIOLA: Arguably, our country cannot boast of having the best educational system in the world. However, it was nice being a student of OAU. I would definitely have studied somewhere else, though. My experience was challenging, inspiring, and remarkable.

PHILIP: At least you got to be a part of Love Kin. Tell us about your time with Love Kin in OAU.

MIBIOLA: Being a part of Love Kin was one of the amazing decisions I made in Ife. We always had small meetings where we have thought-provoking sessions about every subject -religion, love, science, entrepreneurship. Everything!

Did I mention that we often had feasting days too? Well, we did. Nothing beats feasting on meals while exploring and reviewing important subjects.

PHILIP: So what has life been like for you after school?

MIBIOLA: I wish I could go back to tell my younger self to absolutely believe it when people say that there is a whole world waiting for you after graduation.

So, yeah, I'm still figuring that “world” out. However, I'm glad at the amazing and endless opportunities and possibilities that await me.

PHILIP: Tell us more about your career and plans for the future.

MIBIOLA: Well, as I said, I'm still figuring a whole lot out. I'd love to continue in the tech space, create a reputable brand for myself and eventually build something of mine.

PHILIP: Do you have specific things that keep you motivated? If so, what are they?

MIBIOLA: My desire to leave an excellent legacy. That's what keeps me going.

PHILIP: We learned from a source that you are a feminist. Can you tell us about feminism and if possible, clear the air on the misconceptions about it?

MIBIOLA: A feminist is someone who believes in the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes, and advocates for it.

I strongly believe in the equality of both sexes. I also acknowledge that inequality of sexes has led to years of oppression of the female gender.

On misconceptions, the general idea that feminism is a movement that promotes the hatred of men is false. Fighting patriarchy isn't fighting men. Patriarchy is a system of power that feminism aims to dismantle.

PHILIP: Do you have any message or advice for fellows of Love Kin?

MIBIOLA: Life is a journey. Don't be in a hurry; enjoy each moment.

Establish meaningful relationships, love sincerely, appreciate families (like Love Kin), and go for the kind of life you want!
